SME’s contribute some £1,500 billion to the UK economy, and employ over 14 million people, the FSB has a major role to play lobbying Government on their behalf

The FSB has four networking meetings in Shropshire each month.  At the Tern Hill meeting the focus was on computers – with Dane Rainford of Rainford IT answering questions on computer and internet problems, ably assisted by Simon Hughes from Qaist and Sam and Simon Harris of The Ideas Cupboard.

There were questions about back-up systems – an external hard drive being a simple, safe and economic solution.  Dane talked about security, checking firewalls and updating anti-virus programs regularly.  Simon Hughes pointed out that if you plug in a USB stick from an unknown source it can bypass all firewalls and security systems. Emails and attachments are the most common source of viruses – always check properly before clicking on anything. Sanjeev Punj of SP Legal Solutions asked about a problem with Outlook which created an animated discussion over coffee.
