FSB Vice Chair is Young Enterprise Best Business Adviser

FSB Vice Chair, Rachael Tyrrell, won the Young Enterprise Best Business Adviser Award at the recent Shropshire Awards Evening.

The FSB supports Shropshire’s young entrepreneurs in several ways.  Richard Nuttall has just been appointed as the FSB Connect adviser for young people – he is based at SYST in Telford.  For many years the FSB has also sponsored Young Enterprise – a national charity that empowers young people to harness their personal and business skills and teaches leadership and employability skills relevant to the world of work.

Young Enterprise supports teachers and young people in schools  taking part in their company programme – teams of young people run their own businesses with the help of business advisers – many of them FSB members – who provide encouragement and assistance where required.  In May this year 26 teams celebrated their achievements at a special awards evening at The Park Inn in Telford, sponsored by many large and small firms including Muller, Belton Cheese and Caterpillar – and the FSB who sponsored the Entrepreneurship Award.

The FSB works closely with Young Enterprise with two FSB committee members on the Shropshire YE board. FSB Vice Chair, Rachael Tyrrell, won the Best Business Adviser Award this year, presented by YE board member Barbara Rainford.

The winning team, Global Gourmet from Holy Trinity Academy, takes part in the Regional Finals which this year are also being held in Shropshire at Shrewsbury Town Football Club in June – sponsored by the FSB locally, regionally and nationally.  FSB National directors, regional chairmen and committee members will be attending the event along with local dignitaries and the six winning teams from YE West Midlands Region.

The Federation of Small Businesses is the largest business support organisation in the UK with over 160,000 members.  Formed in 1974, it is the UK’s leading business organisation representing small and medium-sized businesses.
